Join us in celebrating National Love Your Pet Day this year! Take your pet on an extra long walk, give them their favorite treats, and consider giving back to your local shelter to help less fortunate animals in need.
__________
In celebration of National Love Your Pet Day, we chatted with some of our pet-obsessed employees to get to know their special furry friends.
Kelly and Riley:
Q: Tell us about Riley.
A: Riley is a a five year old West Highland White Terrier or “Westie” for short! Riley is hip with the times, so you can follow him on Instagram at @Riley_TheWestie.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about Riley?
A: Riley has the quirkiest personality and the strangest mannerisms! Everything he does makes me laugh. He’s truly my spirit animal!
Q: How will you be celebrating Love Your Pet Day with Riley?
A: We will be hitting up our local ice cream shop because they have “Puppy Sundaes.” Riley loves acting like a real human, so dressing up in a cute outfit and grabbing ice cream is his dream come true! I’ll also be rocking my Prints of Love bangle because it benefits ASPCA. National Love Your Pet Day should also remind us of all the animals without loving homes that are in need!
Q: What’s a fun fact about Riley.
A: We got Riley from a farm in Missouri called the “Funny Farm” where he lived amongst a variety of animals including alpacas and Nigerian Dwarf goats. I’m pretty sure that is where he developed such a strange personality.
Angelica and Jager:
Q: Tells us about Jager.
A: Jager is a one and a half year old Lhasa Apso. He loves string cheese, chasing his tail and playing with his favorite toys.
Q: What is your favorite memory together?
A: When Jager was a baby, my family would take turns getting up with him each night. On my first night shift, he didn’t want to go back in his crate and wanted to play. I brought him to the couch to try to get him to relax. We both fell asleep. He was so tiny back then that he fit on my shoulder and nuzzled himself near my face. This was the moment I fell madly in love with my cute little pup!
How will you be celebrating Love Your Pet day with Jager?
A: Jager loves going for car rides, especially when they’re to Mary Lou’s Coffee since they give out dog treats! He usually accompanies my sister and I on our Saturday morning coffee runs. We will be doing that, then taking him to the pet store to pick out an extra special treat!
Bryana and Stella:
Q: Tell us about Stella.
A: Stella is a six month old Tabby Cat (still a kitten though!). She has black, gray, and white tiger stripes with unique orange spots on her paws and the top of her head.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about Stella?
A: Stella is super cuddly! She loves curling up on my lap and taking cat naps while I’m working on my laptop or watching TV. She also likes to be the little spoon during the night!
Q: What is your favorite memory together?
A: When Stella was eight weeks old we celebrated her first Halloween by wearing “Mommy & Me” costumes! Stella was a baby lion and I was a lion tamer!
Jenn and Dexter:
Q: Tell us about Dexter.
A: Dexter is a seven year old American Pit Bull Terrier, he is a rescue dog from the Providence Animal Rescue League.
Q: What is your favorite memory together?
A: Dexter and I love to do everything together. Our favorite memory is sneaking into the local baseball field to play fetch in the snow! He absolutely loves everything about the snow–eating it, rolling in it, and chasing snowballs!
Q: How will you be celebrating Love Your Pet Day
A: I plan to celebrate Love Your Pet Day by getting Dexter a new bone (stuffed with bacon and cheese–his favorite!) and making him a special dinner of boiled chicken and brown rice with sweet potatoes, and of course sharing tons of pictures of him on social media.
A: What’s a fun fact about Dexter?
Q: Dexter LOVES to listen to music, his favorite artist is Frank Sinatra. He sways his head to the music, his favorite song is “L.O.V.E.”
